Swift Current is a new documentary that provides a frank account of the sexual and psychological abuse suffered by former NHL player Sheldon Kennedy at the hands of his former coach Graham James. The film has been playing in select theatres in Canada, and will have its worldwide broadcast premier on Global TV this Saturday, November 21. Watch the trailer, above.

Kennedy’s ordeal, unfortunately, did not end with the revelations that rocked the hockey world when he went public with his story in 1996. The film is frank about his efforts to numb his feelings of rage and shame with alcohol until he was able to get sober in 2004.
