Allan Hawco is a renaissance man. An acclaimed actor, writer, and executive producer, he is best recognized for his starring role in the hit CBC television series, Republic of Doyle, and as the executive producer of Canada’s leading comedy show, Son of a Critch. He is currently starring in CBC’s new show, Saint Pierre, and is also a prolific theatre actor who has appeared in several feature films. Whether as a keynote speaker or emcee, Hawco imparts his high-wattage celebrity and trademark charisma, guaranteeing a memorable event every time.
The founder of Hawco Productions, Hawco not only played the lead for Republic of Doyle, but was the show’s head writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the full six season run. His other television credits include Another Life (Netflix), Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan (Amazon Prime), Frontier, Caught, Departure, Moonshine, The Book of Negroes, Murdoch Mysteries and more. He’s also appeared in such feature films as Weirdos, Hyena Road, The Child Remains, Love & Savagery, and Closing the Ring.
A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, Hawco has maintained his roots in the theatre as the co-founder of The Company Theatre. He garnered rave reviews as the lead in many of the Company’s productions including Whistle in the Dark, Festen, and Belleville. The Company Theatre has gone on to stage numerous productions, such as John, Domesticated, The Seagull, Speaking in Tongues, The Test, Marion Bridge, and the Dora Award-winning Through the Leaves.
Hawco’s major accolades include awards such as the Gascon Thomas Award from the National Theatre School; the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Canadian Television Hall of Fame; multiple Canadian Screen Awards and Gemini nominations for Republic of Doyle; and an ACTRA nomination for Best Male Actor.
