As the department head of critical care at The Ottawa Hospital, Dr. Kwadwo Kyeremanteng cares for the sickest of the sick patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). His research is dedicated to improving efficiencies and access to palliative care services in the ICU, with an emphasis on the need to fight racism in healthcare.
Dr. K is the host of the ever-growing podcast Solving Healthcare, which features interviews and discussions on the topic of improving healthcare delivery in Canada. Through the lens of cost-effectiveness, dignity, and justice, Dr. K’s aim is to challenge the status quo while exploring gaps, assumptions, and different perspectives in the pursuit of solving problems within Canada’s healthcare system.
In addition, Dr. K is the founder of the Resource Optimization Network, a multidisciplinary research group working to reduce health spending without compromising care. He also created the virtual health and wellness platform, Solving Wellness, for health care professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic to help address burnout by providing curated content on health, fitness, and self-care.
