Brent Butt is best known in television for his hilarious role on CTV’s Corner Gas, which portrayed life in small town Saskatchewan and the mayhem that ensued there. It became an instant hit with unprecedented ratings and numerous accolades, including an International Emmy Award nomination. Bringing a similar style of humour to his onstage performances, Brent is an audience favourite with his clean jokes and stories that everyone can relate to.
Brent is one of the most successful comedians in Canada. He’s a regular at Just For Laughs and has appeared on numerous national and international television programs. Aside from his own national special, Bedtime with Brent Butt, which earned him a Gemini nomination, he has been seen on A&E, HBO, CBC, CTV, and Global.
Corner Gas, which Brent produced and starred in, ran for six seasons. His follow-up program Hiccups aired for two seasons. In 2013, Brent released his first feature film, No Clue, which was nominated for Best Motion Picture at the 2014 Leo Awards. Brent than starred in Corner Gas: The Movie, which saw the entire cast of the original series reunited. The movie received a special Golden Screen Award at the 2016 Canadian Screen Awards.
In 2018, Brent created an all-new animated version of his iconic comedy franchise entitled Corner Gas: Animated. After its premiere on The Comedy Network, it immediately became the #1 rated show in the network’s history. Most recently, Brent released his first fiction novel, Huge, which instantly became a #1 fiction bestseller in Canada and remains on the top ten list to date.
For his contribution to community and country, Brent was honoured with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013. Brent also won the Comedy Network Sir Peter Ustinov Award at the World Television Festival, which is presented in recognition of a significant body of comedic work.
