Apple Music: Reflecting on Creativity and Growth

Multi-Juno Award-winning musician Max Kerman finds joy in storytelling and collaboration, sharing fearless and optimistic perspectives on creativity, teambuilding, and reinvention. Whether drawing on his experiences helming one of Canada’s most successful bands or moderating an on-stage fireside chat with notables from the worlds of business, art, sports, and entertainment, Kerman’s natural curiosity and warmth are ever present and inviting.

Fronting the unstoppable rock’n’roll band Arkells, Kerman is considered one of the most passionate and dynamic frontmen in Canada. The band has countless number one singles, with hundreds of millions of streams worldwide, and has won the Juno Award for “Group of the Year” more than any other act. Kerman’s keen awareness of politics and social activism have inspired the lyrics to many of Arkells’ most popular songs, which have propelled the band to being one of Canada’s most played alt-rock acts. Their live show is second to none, having sold out Scotiabank Arena and Budweiser Stage in Toronto multiple times.

Arkells’ unique distinction in popular culture has received note and praise from fans, peers, and the greater entertainment industry for their ability to authentically connect with their audiences. Kerman’s personal relationships with community advocates and business leaders in sports, tech, and mental health have helped shape his worldview.

Kerman is a keen observer of media at large. He spends his free time as a co-host on The Best Hang Podcast, a rollicking weekly show that comments on sports, entertainment, and comedy, and is currently an executive producer on The Dessert, a broadcast sketch comedy show for which he also wrote the music. He also co-owns the restaurant ODDS, a community-focused sports bar in Hamilton, Ontario, and is a member of The Nick Nurse Foundation board, an organization that helps underserved youth in sports, literacy, and music.
