Amber Kanwar is one of the country’s leading and most recognized figures in financial news. For almost 15 years, she was a mainstay at BNN Bloomberg. She hosted many of their flagship shows covering the markets, the economy, and disruptive technologies, and conducted hundreds of interviews with high-profile individuals, including portfolio managers, CEOs, central bankers, and politicians. As an experienced host and interviewer, she brings a wealth of insight into Canadian business, finance, and tech trends to her audiences.
Kanwar began working in the BNN Bloomberg newsroom as an intern, quickly climbing the ranks to segment producer and anchor. Specializing in equity markets, she was constantly on the hunt for stocks flying under the radar and emerging trends, curating the latest research to make it accessible for her viewers. Kanwar earned a reputation as an insightful, tenacious, and competent voice on Bay Street and was the host of such popular shows as The Open and The Disruptors.
Over the years, Kanwar interviewed several prominent newsmakers including former Bank of Canada governors Mark Carney, Stephen Poloz, and David Dodge and former Finance Minister Bill Morneau. She also spoke with countless CEOs of major publicly traded companies such as Eli Lilly and Airbnb in the US and Blackberry, Cameco, and Atkins Realis in Canada. Today, Kanwar writes a daily markets-focused newsletter, “Before the Bell”, and is the host of the podcast, In the Money with Amber Kanwar, which debuted at #2 on Apple’s list of top business podcasts in Canada.
Kanwar holds a Bachelor of Arts in management and organizational studies from the University of Western Ontario, and a master’s in journalism from Ryerson University.
