Success Starts with Showing Up

Success Starts with Showing Up

Jon Montgomery captured the hearts of Canadians–and the attention of everyone–during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games. After years of hard work, training and perseverance, Montgomery won a gold medal in the skeleton, securing his place in history as one of the best. As the host of The Amazing Race Canada, Montgomery continues to inspire through his talks.

At one recent talk at Brandon University reported on by The Brandon Sun, he shared some inspiring words to students there that emphasized the importance of simply showing up:

“You don’t know if you’re going down the right path, but I promise you something: You guys are doing the right things. . .

“The only way you’re going to figure it out is through action, and I can tell you, all of you are people of action for simply being here today.”

Montgomery went on to say he can’t have regrets because he knows he’s always put the entirety of himself into anything he’s ever had to do. It’s a simple message with a big impact—the kind of reminder we all need that deliberate and sustained dedication can lead to the most incredible successes.
