“No excuses, no limits.” That’s the philosophy behind everything that Luca “Lazylegz” Patuelli lives by every day. Born with arthrogryposis, a rare muscle disorder that limits motion in the joints, Luca has never let his condition slow him down. Discovering his passion for breakdancing at the age of 15, Luca created the “ILL-Abilities” crew, a group of dancers who all overcome physical limitations. Interspersing his energetic talks with his unique and unforgettable dance moves, Luca inspires all audiences to get up off their feet and live their dreams.
Today, on International Dance Day, we’re so excited to share that Luca has been selected as the official Canadian Youth Ambassador for Dance. Last month, Luca travelled with filmmaker Louis-Philippe Chagnon to accessible dance studios to get some footage of young people with physical special needs taking part in urban dance classes. Take a look at the great video above and check out Luca’s Project RAD initiative, which helps support getting kids of various abilities into dance.
