Since taking over as head coach of the Canada men’s national soccer team, Jesse Marsch has guided the program to unprecedented heights — propelling Canada to its highest-ever FIFA world ranking, a remarkable fourth place finish at their first appearance in the prestigious Copa America tournament, and the inaugural 2025 Canadian Shield in an invitational tournament with New Zealand, Ukraine, and Cote d’Ivoire. Drawing on decades of experience building championship teams across three continents, Marsch delivers powerful insights on leadership, teamwork, mental preparation, and what it takes to rally teams around ambitious goals.
Marsch’s coaching career spans the world’s most competitive leagues. He has led top-tier European clubs including Leeds United in the English Premier League, RB Leipzig in Germany, and FC Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. His European coaching experience followed North American success, where he made his mark as the inaugural coach of the Montreal Impact and head coach of the New York Red Bulls, which won two MLS Supporters’ Shields during his tenure. Before coaching, Marsch played professionally for 14 seasons, participating in a total of 321 league matches and winning three MLS Cup championships with DC United, Chicago Fire, and Chivas USA. He also earned two caps for the US national soccer team.
A Princeton graduate, Marsch has traveled to nearly 85 countries. He splits his time between coaching Canada, tending his olive groves in Tuscany, and overseeing restaurant ventures in the US. Passionate about growing the game of soccer in his adopted country of Canada, Marsch regularly conducts coaching clinics and speaks with groups across the country, always wearing the maple leaf with pride. He is available as a keynote speaker in partnership with Blackfin Sports Group.
