Zahra Al-Harazi: What It Takes to Live and Lead with Purpose
In her debut book, What It Takes, celebrated entrepreneur Zahra Al-Harazi shares her inspirational journey from being a new immigrant to Canada with three young children, no higher education, and no connections to the business world, to becoming one of Canada’s most successful businesswomen.
A survivor of two civil wars, Zahra immigrated to a Calgary suburb from a small village in Yemen with little to her name. But, through persistence and passion, she found the courage and strength to build the life she wanted to live. In What It Takes, she shows readers how to do the same, and find fulfillment in the life they lead. It all begins with purpose.
What It Takes
Zahra stopped by our office to share an overview of what readers can expect from her new book, and how she breaks down key skills in each chapter that have helped her lead a life with purpose, including such skills as resiliency and courage.
Through her book, Zahra wants to help people reach contentment in their life, and shows readers how to find and harvest the skills needed to cope with whatever life throws at you.
“Every week there is another book that comes out on happiness. People keep trying to grasp this thing, but it’s not a thing. You are never going to hold on to it. It’s an emotion, just like sadness and anger and anything else. What you need is your coping mechanisms of, ‘how are you going to get over the next hill’, because you know it’s coming, it’s always coming.”
Building a Modern Workforce
Zahra is currently the co-founder of the start-up, Skillit, which is a marketplace for sharing knowledge and building skills. It offers online workshops and courses that can equip people with the soft skills needed for success in a modern workplace.
With a no-holds-barred attitude, Zahra Al-Harazi helps people and organizations realize their potential for success through finding their purpose.
