We are living in a world of contradictions right now that completely flipped our world upside down.

For the past 18 months, leaders and their teams have had to jump from one crisis to another — constantly reacting to changing environments and mandates, changing relationships with clients, employees, suppliers, etc., the complete dissolution of a “workplace”, and not to mention an overdue racial reckoning that swept across North America. Oh, and the economy is on the brink of disaster.

While leaders may be waiting for things to settle down so they can focus on recovery, purpose-driven leadership expert Ron Tite says that recovery is about going back and there is no going back. We are not the same people, the same workforce, the same communities that we were in March 2020.

Leaders are in a difficult situation today. They can feel the social pressures and unrest around them and they don’t know how to lead their people anymore. They’re left asking — now what?

Now, Ron says, it’s time to prioritize and focus on growth, organizational and personal. This is how you go from recovery to reinvention in a post-pandemic world.

The challenges we have faced throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Ron says, have created bountiful opportunities, and the leaders who will succeed in this new world are those who are willing to lean into them. To see them for what they really are — a once-in-a-lifetime, once-in-a-career opportunity to not just recover, but to completely reinvent ourselves.

The next year, Ron says, will be defined by:

• How we integrate or continue the things we once thought were impossible.
• How we abandon the things that are no longer relevant.
• How we adapt to the changing reality around us.

In simpler terms — What am I keeping? What am I ditching? What am I changing?

We are not the same people we were and we cannot go back or we will fail. Channel the chaos, Ron says, and prioritize growth. Growth that is defined by our current reality; growth not only within organizations, but also within yourself, your teams, and your community. Personal and organizational growth.

If that scares you, don’t worry, Ron says, you’ll grow into it.
