WATCH: Choir! Choir! Choir! and Jann Arden Host Live Shows Online

Choir! Choir! Choir! leaders Nobu Adilman and Daveed Goldman are used to bringing people together weekly for live singing sessions and concerts. Now with people following recommended guidelines to self-isolate and social distance themselves, Nobu and Daveed are bringing the show online to help people stay connected and revel in the joy of singing.

Founded in 2011, Choir! Choir! Choir! requires no auditions – everyone is welcome, and each week between a hundred and three hundred participants show up at a bar or concert hall to sing and rehearse any number of pop songs. They’ve amassed a dedicated and passionate community of singers, along with a thriving international fan base on YouTube and beyond.

Drawing inspiration from clips of people quarantined in Italy singing together on their balcony, Nobu and Daveed took to Facebook in hopes of inspiring a similar community spirit. With a planned lineup of songs well suited for a quarantine, including “Wish You Were Here,” “With a Little Help from My Friends” and “Lean on Me”, they were joined virtually by 7,000 people and the live show had more than 16,000 comments.

If you’re looking for a smile today, watch some of the event in the video below – they will have you singing along too!

From a Toronto Star article, Nobu and Daveed said they are hoping to create an online space where singers could see each other as they all sang together, but for now are starting with this small gesture to help people “feel less alone.” Singers joined them from across the world, including New Zealand.

Canadian music icon Jann Arden also joined the virtual concert game, livestreaming from her home. By Tuesday, her concert had more than 600,000 views.

Follow Choir! Choir! Choir! to keep up to date with any future online events, and maybe we’ll be singing with each other in the near future from the comfort of our homes.
