More than 400 top meeting and event organizers turned out for our 22nd Annual Showcase, held March 1st in Toronto. The morning was emceed by the hilarious and enthusiastic Bruce Sellery, with six incredible speakers entertaining and enlightening the audience. Check out the videos from the event below, and learn about Pathways to Education, the charitable organization our Showcase helped to support this year.
Bruce Sellery is not just an acclaimed business journalist and television host – he’s also an in-demand corporate emcee. At our Showcase, Bruce kept the audience laughing and engaged for the entire event, with his carefully customized and crafted introductions, hilarious ad libs, and sensational stories.
Ranked among most influential economists in the world, David McWilliams was the only economist in Ireland who accurately forecast the 2008 global crash, the strong UK Brexit vote, and the Trump victory. With the objective to make economics easily digestible, David drew on his unique sense of humour to keep our crowd in stitches when he spoke on trends in growth, financial markets, and geo-politics.
Passionate about leveraging the talents of entrepreneurs, Nicole Verkindt is the founder of the Offset Market Exchange (OMX), and a “Dragon” on CBC’s Next Gen Den. On our stage, Nicole discussed today’s major trends in business, and explained why so many companies are vying to be part of the online platform revolution.
Kevin Breel’s TEDx Talk, “Confessions of a Depressed Comic”, has garnered more than four million views, making it one of the most watched TED talks ever on mental health and depression. Kevin captivated our audience with his observation that when it comes to ending the stigma around mental health, the journey “starts with compassion, and having difficult conversations with the people we love.”
Called “a controversial leader of the new world order,” Leonard Brody is an award- winning entrepreneur, venture capitalist, bestselling author, and a two-time Emmy nominated media visionary. In his thought-provoking talk, Leonard explored the rapid pace of change, innovation, and disruption facing us all — and what to do about it.
Today’s leaders and team members live, work, and breathe in a whirlwind 24/7 cycle of commitments, distractions, data, and deadlines — causing them to feel stressed, overwhelmed, and out of control. Productivity, sales, and leadership expert Neen James shared compelling examples of how leaders can use the concept of “paying attention” to improve brand success and bottom lines.
Under John Herdman’s leadership, the Canadian Women’s National Soccer Team won two back-to-back bronze medals at the Olympic Games, and a gold medal at the Pan Am Games ― the first Pan Am gold in Canadian soccer history. In his inspiring talk, Herdman explained how vision, passion, and discipline were fundamental to the top performance of the Women’s Team, and how those skills are transferable to the office.
For over two decades, Speakers’ Spotlight Showcases have made an impact on those in need. Once again, our audience came together to help Pathways to Education, a national, charitable organization working to make Canada a “Graduation Nation.”
