One of Canada’s premier broadcast journalists, Tom Clark reported on the local, national, and international stories that shaped Canada for over 25 years. With in-depth knowledge of the political and economic issues affecting Canadians coast-to-coast, he speaks to the importance of intelligent media for Canadians as a world-class standard.

The former Global National News’ chief political correspondent, Clark hosted the weekly political program The West Block with Tom Clark, where he discussed issues important to all Canadians. He was also the host of CTV’s daily political program Power Play with Tom Clark, and the senior correspondent of North America’s longest-running current affairs program, W-Five.  His hard-hitting investigations were recognized and honoured in Canada and around the world.

Politically, Clark covered every federal election campaign since 1974, as well as numerous provincial campaigns, and interviewed nearly every prime minister since Pierre Trudeau. He even secured Canada’s first televised interview with a sitting US president in over 30 years.

Clark has reported from five war zones, most notably from Southern Iraq in 2003. Prior to his “tour,” he was the only Canadian reporter in Belgrade during the Yugoslav war. He also did two coverage tours in the Persian Gulf War, as well as two tours of duty in Bosnia.

In the early 1980s, Clark was the bureau chief in CTV’s Beijing bureau in China, where he became one of the first Western journalists to report from Tibet. He also was the only Western journalist to get an interview with the son of Chinese leader Deng Xiao Ping, during which he uncovered a previously secret connection of that family to Canada.

Currently, Clark is Chairman of the CBC Independent Advisory Board and he is also the Chairman of Global Public Affairs, where he provides insight and guidance to leading figures in Canada’s business community. He is fully bilingual.
