Director of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships, Shopify
Brennan Loh leads the teams responsible for building and managing the key strategic partnerships for Shopify, Canada’s #1 e-commerce retailing solution. In his eye-opening presentations, Brennan discusses the inside story about Shopify’s growth and success; the future of e-commerce; and shares his unique insights into entrepreneurial lessons that aren’t taught in textbooks.
While attending the University of Ottawa, Brennan co-founded Avitu, an online advertising platform with two classmates. The company later shared office space with Shopify, allowing a collaborative partnership to form where best practices and business strategies were shared. Eventually, Brennan and his partners left Avitu behind to join Shopify exclusively.
When Brennan started at Shopify in early 2011, 40 employees were working out of a cramped Ottawa office on a product that had yet to be in high demand. Today, Shopify is a publicly-traded company with more than 1200 employees across four offices and in 2015 led Canada’s most successful IPO. Shopify represents over 275,000 businesses in 150 countries, including Tesla Motors, Budweiser, Wikipedia, LA Lakers, the New York Stock Exchange, GoldieBlox, and many more.
In addition to his work with the company, Brennan serves as a mentor and advisor to a number of entrepreneurial and student associations across Canada, including the Entrepreneurs Club at the University of Ottawa.
He graduated from the Telfer School of Management in 2011.
