Amber Kanwar is one of the country’s leading and most recognized figures in financial news. She has been a mainstay at BNN Bloomberg for more than a decade, hosting flagship shows about the markets, the economy, and disruptive technologies. She has also conducted hundreds of interviews with high-profile individuals, including portfolio managers, CEOs, central bankers, and politicians. As an experienced host and interviewer, she brings a wealth of insight into Canadian business, finance, and tech trends.

Kanwar began working in the BNN Bloomberg newsroom as an intern, quickly climbing the ranks to segment producer and now, anchor. She specializes in equity markets and is constantly seeking out stocks flying under the radar, trends that are about to emerge, and curating research to make it accessible to viewers. As the host of such popular shows as The Open and The Disruptors, she has earned a reputation as an insightful, tenacious, and competent voice on Bay Street.

Kanwar is known as a leader in breaking news and for her in-depth reporting. She has previously reported on Canada’s booming online gaming sector and activist interest in one of Canada’s biggest pipeline companies. She was also one of the most plugged-in reporters on the turnaround effort at BlackBerry and has interviewed CEOs from across Canada’s C-suite, including Blackberry’s John Chen, Manulife’s Don Guloien, and Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan’s Jim Leech, to name a few.

Kanwar holds a Bachelor of Arts in management and organizational studies from the University of Western Ontario, and a master’s in journalism from Ryerson University.
