Adding Depth and Expertise to the 2018 Winter Games

The PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games get underway today and CBC, Canada’s official Olympic Network till 2024, has smartly enlisted an impressive stable of hosts, reporters, and commentators. Among them is a wide spectrum of Speakers’ Spotlight talent.

Two-time medalist and ex-Breakfast Television host Alexandre Despatie will be the morning face of English language coverage (although he could easily do French as well, being fully bilingual) as co-host of Olympic Games Morning. Meanwhile, Former Canadian Women’s Hockey Team Captain Cassie Campbell-Pascall will be a familiar voice as a hockey analyst. Also in analyst roles are Olympic Champion and Amazing Race Canada Host Jon Montgomery and Olympic Champion Freestyle Skier Jennifer Heil. Rounding out the coverage are Olympic Champion Kayaker and CBC sports analyst Adam van Koeverden and Two-time Olympian Perdita Felicien, both contributing as reporters.

Of course we’ll all be cheering on Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Heather Moyse, who returns with the bobsleigh team, and there’s always a chance we might see famed Olympic curler Cheryl Bernard, who was skip at the 2010 Games and has come out of retirement to travel to the 2018 Games as an alternate—a force of stability and grounding as someone who’s been at the Games and navigated the crush of media scrutiny that surrounds any Olympic team.

We’re certainly excited to cheer on our talent and see incredible, inspiring stories from every Team Canada athlete. Knowing that among the way our existing Olympic heroes will add colour and detail to help expand our understanding and enjoyment of the upcoming Games makes it that much sweeter.
