3. Everything I Ever Learned, I Learned Buying Carpets
Anna Maria's travels through conflict, war and upheaval, and how getting stuck in traffic, buying the weekly groceries in foreign countries, and haggling for good carpets allowed her to really understand the people and regions where she was reporting. The real story is not found in the halls of power, but rather on the streets and back alleys where ordinary people live extraordinary lives. Stories, insights and humbling moments collected in 30 years of reporting across Canada and the world.

2. They’re Asking…You’d Better Answer

1. I Have To Ask…
Think politicians and those with influence have nothing to do with your life? Anna Maria argues that every day politicians, business leaders and others who are elected or appointed to positions of influence make decisions that impact our lives.
It is only fair to ask them what they’re thinking, why they make the decisions they make, and if they are aware of the implications.
The more we know, the better our decisions can be and the better our democratic system.
Anna Maria says it isn’t easy to ask a tough question. But it is harder not to.
