  • 1. The Physiology, Sociology & Psychology of Change

Amazing research is being done to help us better understand neuroplasticity and how the brain responds to new or different ideas, actions or deeply held beliefs. What we have learned is that the carrot and the stick don't work, and people who resist change aren't bad, wrong or stupid. Gain insight into the brain's role in resistance and learning and the complexity of change; why so many of our change efforts haven't given us the results that we would like. Getting engaged in the transformation process is critical - we may have to change our own attitudes and processes to make that a reality. The new organizational challenge is to better understand the physiology, psychology and sociology of change so that we can embrace new ideas, concepts, techniques and technology.

If you have ever been part of a change initiative that was met with resistance, suspicion or downright anger, this session is for you. Learn how we can use the latest brain science research to become more adaptive, build engagement, and achieve dynamite results. It's not magic but challenges us to develop and use a different set of skills, tools and techniques.

  • 2. Changing Perspectives: Transforming Your Organization

When was the last time you changed your mind? Honestly. Even about seemingly unimportant things. Most of us spend a lifetime figuring out what's "right" and then we create organizational cultures that support our perspectives. The problem with that approach is that diversity is critical to adaptation. And in a transforming world, we need to systematically and consciously bring divergent perspectives to the table and create even better solutions than any of the individual ideas. To be successful in a transforming world, we must challenge what is, engage and value multiple perspectives and support our organizations to explore new ways of thinking.

We tend to see what we are looking at or looking for. But we have a tendency to believe that what we see is the "whole truth." This session will challenge us to broaden our perspectives and "see" more than we ever thought was possible. Being open to changing your mind is key to finding endless possibilities.

  • A head's up that I will be contacting the Vatican to initiate the canonization process! You must be a saint given the miracle you performed! I walked in on our regular team meeting and nearly fell off my chair - the agenda was already on the white board, they were ready to keep track of time, a team member was facilitating, and a scribe was taking minutes! We finished on time and got everything done, which removed any doubt that people would put to use what you taught them!
