CBC Journalist | Political Analyst
Award-winning journalist Robert Fisher began his career in broadcasting 49 years ago. His insightful perspectives are based on his in-depth knowledge of provincial, national, and international politics. Fisher, who retired from CBC Radio in July 2015, provides his audiences with the most up-to-date information on the issues that concern Canadians most.
Fisher has covered every major Ontario political story at the municipal, provincial, and national levels for CBC Television’s The National, CBC TV Toronto, Global Television, and CBC Radio. At Global, Fisher created, produced, and hosted the widely respected program Focus Ontario, a program The Globe and Mail called “a must watch” for people inside and outside the world of politics. Fisher was also the Ontario network’s first Queen’s Park Bureau Chief and news anchor.
At the CBC, Fisher was the radio network’s afternoon news anchor, and now can often be heard on Here and Now and syndicated throughout the network.
Fisher has taught journalism law and ethics at Centennial College in Toronto, and radio and television news writing and production at Ryerson University in Toronto.
