Lorne Cardinal is undeniably one of the funniest men on the stage and in the small screen. As an entertainer, speaker, or event host, Cardinal effortlessly taps into his gift for comedic timing and his quick wit to ensure that audiences roll in the aisles with laughter. One of Canada’s most recognized aboriginal actors and directors, Cardinal has won two Gemini Awards for his performances in Wapos Bay and Corner Gas as well as numerous nominations for his body of work.

Cardinal’s previous film and television acting credits include some of the most memorable Canadian-made programs, including North of 60, Blackfly, Lonesome Dove and Jake and the Kid. He has also directed episodes of Renegadepress.com, Moccasin Flats, and Rabbit Fall. On the stage, Cardinal has acted in a touring production of Thunderstick, and also directed a production of Thomson Highways’ Ernistine Shushwap Gets Her Trout and Three Little Birds by Kenneth T. Williams.

He is also a recurring host for award shows such as The National Aboriginal Achievement Awards, the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards, National Aboriginal Day, The Dreamcatchers Gala, and the Winnipeg Comedy Festival.

Cardinal is the recipient of an honourary PhD from Thompson Rivers University.

In this talk, Lorne uses his fears for motivation to overcome challenges and obstacles. By sharing stories from his childhood and through his work hosting APTN’s Buffalo Tracks, Lorne shows audiences how to overcome the fear of failure to achieve personal and professional success.

Lorne talks about his journey from Sucker Creek, AB to being a Gemini award-winning actor. Starting out his working life taking jobs like tree planting, Lorne explains his journey to eventually taking his first acting class at Thompson Rivers University (formerly University College of the Caribou) and how it changed Lorne’s trajectory in life.
