  • 2. From AC/DC to ABCD

It wasn't so long ago that Tara Slone was touring North America with her Juno-nominated band, Joydrop, playing dingy rock clubs and staying up way too late. Slone, now the mother of a twenty month-old daughter, is the cheery host of City TV's Breakfast Television Calgary - a rather dramatic about-face from her rock 'n' roll days. She will talk about trying to find the balance between the past and the present, and the bumpy road in between.

  • 1. The Places That Scare You

How leaping into the unknown can lead to unexpected success...

It's been a circuitous path that has led Tara Slone to the anchor desk of Breakfast Television Calgary. From her gruelling days on the road with her band, Joydrop; through a very public stint on the CBS reality series, Rockstar: INXS; to Slone's foray into the world of broadcasting at Sun TV in Toronto; and her journey into the world of motherhood, there has not been a challenge that she has not met head-on. Slone has always gone to the places that scare her, and has NEVER regretted it.

  • Tara Slone injects true mastery into the role of Master of Ceremonies! I have never been so impressed by anyone's abilities to step into a role and own it like Tara did for us. We have had a great cast of emcees over the years but each and every one of them pales in comparison to what Ms. Slone was able to achieve. Our goal was to present sixty awards in a two and a half hour gala show - which is no easy feat. Time flew past thanks to Tara's skilled management of pace, tone and delivery. She was engaging, personable, entertaining and an absolute joy to work with! She made me look like a rock star in front of 1700 guests and I couldn't be more grateful. I am beyond proud of what Tara accomplished on our behalf, I am ecstatic! I would not only recommend Tara Slone to anyone seeking the quintessential event host, I would dial the phone for them!
