LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
People Centered LeadershipTM is a Four to Five module leadership development program that focuses on helping leaders make actual changes in behavior over a period of time. One of the unique features of the program is that each module builds on the previous module. Participants commit to specific leadership practices and benchmark with other participants at each session.
The modules focus on three key areas of engagement for leaders:
Self-Leadership (Modules 1, 2):
Focuses on the leaders own level of engagement and commitment at work. Leaders cannot lead others to engagement if they do not first do the work themselves. Therefore, leaders begin by discovering their own "engagement formulas," the unique combination of personal values, talents, and contributions that lead them to create work that is exciting, engaging, and meaningful. Participants will:
Learn a model for engagement
Identify their personal learning goals
Use personal style instruments to help participants get to know self and each other. The focus is on self-awareness but also on how team members can work effectively together.
Explore personal values and their impact on one's level of engagement
Explore and determine personal leadership legacy (what each leader wants to be known for) and develop areas of focus for development.
Describe the business purpose and "higher" purpose of their work
Interpersonal Leadership (Modules 2, 3,):
Focuses on how leaders can more effectively influence and coach other individuals toward increased engagement. In these modules, leaders learn to identify the unique engagement drivers of their team members, to create a climate of appreciation and recognition, and to structure more powerful and productive conversations about engagement with their employees. Participants will:
Learn a method for identifying others' key talents and gifts.
Learn the keys to leadership and personal presence including how to bring presence into day to day leadership interactions.
Learn how to quickly build rapport with others
Practice composing more powerful questions
Facilitate skillful discussions with their colleagues focusing on engagement issues.
Learn how to identify key retention issues with associates
Cultural Leadership: (Modules 4 and 5):
Focuses on how leaders can create a climate that encourages high levels of involvement and commitment. In these modules, leaders learn to focus on appreciation rather than exception, to communicate and reinforce desired values, to use stories to create a values-based culture, and to create strong bonds of community among team members. Participants will:
Learn how to use stories and storytelling to drive key values. Participants will collect and share stories that illustrate key values of their organization and senior leaders.
Uncover their culture's "unspeakables" and develop strategies for countering them.
Practice methods for "speaking the truth" that enroll others in the team's purpose.
Learn how to create a culture of recognition and celebration.
