Hiscox is in her seventh season answering the 2:30 a.m. alarm to start the news day at the center of an exciting, dynamic news program, covering the important stories of the day.

Hiscox has been nominated for three Gemini awards, including for Best Anchor and for Best Host/Interviewer. In her current role, she draws on her extensive and varied experience as a reporter in the field as a former correspondent for CBC’s flagship nightly news program, The National. There, Hiscox covered national and international stories; reported frequently out of CBC’s bureaus in London and Washington; and led CBC’s news coverage team at four consecutive Olympic Games, in Athens, Turin, Beijing and Vancouver. She continues to contribute to, and to anchor, The National on an occasional basis.

Hiscox has delivered keynotes on a range of issues, and has been emcee for innumerable signature events, from fundraisers featuring Al Gore, Bishop Desmond Tutu, and Michael J. Fox, to London, Ontario’s city-wide celebration of its Olympic champions. She is enthusiastic, always well-briefed and prepared...and bilingual.

Hiscox studied French language, literature and translation at the University of Toronto, and then completed her Master’s degree in journalism from the University of Western Ontario. Her broadcasting career actually began while she was still a student. Hiscox’s first job was as a disc jockey at the radio station in her hometown of Owen Sound, Ontario. She worked in radio in her early career before moving into television and working both as a reporter and anchor in southwestern Ontario, Toronto, Halifax and Montreal. Hiscox maintains close ties to many of those communities.She sits as a member of the Advisory Board of the Montreal Neurological Institue and the Champions Executive Board of Right to Play. In 2012, Hiscox was inducted into the Newsmakers Hall of Fame in London, Ontario. As well, in October, 2011, she received an honorary doctor of laws degree from the University of Western Ontario.

 

In 2010, Hiscox was inducted into the Newsmakers Hall of Fame in London, Ontario, and she sits as a member of the Advisory Board of the Montreal Neurological Institute, as well as of the Champions Executive Board of Right to Play.
