Sir Bob Geldof is on of the most well-known and revered pop personalities of our time.

Beginning his career as a journalist for Canada’s premier underground rock journal Georgia Straight, Geldof went on to massive success in the music industry as a performer. As his attention refocused onto global issues, Geldof’s reputation shifted from revered musician to global visionary. Nominated seven times in succession for the Nobel Peace Award, Geldof is widely celebrated for his political activism and his fight against poverty.

Geldof is incredibly well informed, not just about African famines and aid organizations, but also about London and Washington politics, global communications and business. His presentations are highly provocative, uplifting and inspiring; he motivates audiences through his own personal experiences and the lessons learned from Live Aid.

Geldof formed the band The Boomtown Rats amidst the late 1970s punk/new wave era, and he went on to earn a series of hits, including two UK #1 singles. He possessed an acerbic wit and provided excellent interviews with an energy and enthusiasm that outmatched his rivals. After starring in the film, Pink Floyd's The Wall, he turned his attention and resources to the dreadful famine that was plaguing Ethiopia in 1984. Geldof has since spent a considerable amount of time campaigning for debt relief, and raising consciousness concerning global issues such as famine and poverty.

After receiving a knighthood in June 1986 and publishing his autobiography, Geldof recorded a number of solo albums. Continuing to think globally, explore, and create, Geldof established himself as an astute businessman. He was the co-owner of the television production house Planet 24, and the creator of the online travel agency Deckchair.com. In the late 1990s, he founded Ten Alps Communications, a documentary production company that has been responsible for supplying documentaries to the BBC.

Balancing music and his entrepreneurial pursuits, Geldof has continued to make music and focus on global issues simultaneously. Through the years, he has produced numerous albums that reflect on his personal and philosophical thoughts while working on documentaries and other projects. Following the Live 8 Concerts in 2005, Geldof was recognized by Time Magazine as one of the “2005 European Hero's”.

Amongst a number of recent recognitions, Geldof has received honorary Doctorates (Doctor of Laws) from the National University of Ireland and Newcastle University, and has been awarded the MTV "Free Your Mind Award" (Lisbon), the EPM Marketer of the Year Award, The North-South Council Award (Lisbon) and the Nobel Man of Peace Award which was presented to him by Mikael Gorbachev.
