Her dynamic onstage personality coupled with a hilarious and very relateable act is what makes Debra so popular. Her humour and charm lie within her unflinching honesty and openness. Debra's comedy career began with the help of Humber College's Comedy Writing and Performance course in 2000. In 2002, she won the Canadian Comedy Award for the Best Newcomer in Stand-Up. NOW Magazine named her headline show as "The Third Best of the Year" in 2003. In 2005, Debra was nominated for Best Female Stand-Up, and that year marked her first appearance at the Just For Laughs Festival. Debra was one of the top contestants in the fifth season of Last Comic Standing on NBC, and she was awarded the 2007 Female Comedian of the Year Award at the Canadian Comedy Awards. She has toured across Canada opening for Russell Peters, and has taped a Comedy Now Special for CTV.

Debra is a sought after headliner and accomplished voice performer. She can be heard on CBC radio for a bi-weekly rant, and seen on MuchMusic as a favorite judge on the hit shows Video On Trial and Stars On Trial.
