Daryl Diamond is an advisor, author and educator on the subject of using your assets to realize the greatest amount of security and satisfaction during the retirement years. Diamond is well-known as one of the first financial advisors in Canada to identify the special skills and knowledge required to turn accumulated assets into income, while reconciling the varying needs for income and lifestyle as people progress through the stages of retirement.

His Winnipeg-based practice, Diamond Retirement Planning Ltd, is dedicated to this service as well as the investment strategies, health-risk management issues and wealth transfer considerations that are unique to this market.  Of his 33 years in the financial services industry, the last 18 years have been dedicated to the area of retirement income planning. This has provided Diamond with a great deal of insight into and experience in the key considerations and issues that retirees must address.

Diamond is a twice-published author. His second book, Buying Time, was first published in 2003. This book focuses on helping retirees and those about to retire to better plan the use of their money and time by working more closely with their advisor.  The revised version of this title was released in January 2008. Diamond has written formal training programs on retirement income planning for Canada’s largest bank, the Canadian operation of an international life insurance company and one of Canada’s premiere mutual fund companies.  He has just finished writing a comprehensive, step-by-step, retirement income planning manual for advisors entitled, “Maximum Income Strategies”.

Diamond was recently invited to be a contributor to www.clientinsights.ca a consumer oriented information site on financial issues involving both investment manager, academic and planning specialist content.

An in-demand speaker across the industry, Diamond is trusted to impart his insights and train other advisors in these new and specialized strategies. He delivers insightful and timely technical information in easy-to-understand terms that hit home with consumers and advisors alike.  His modern strategies and fresh ideas sharply contrast the traditional financial world, but his success as a sought-after speaker and educator attests to the relevance of his message.

The current economic environment, combined with recent stock market turmoil has created a great deal of doubt and mistrust in the mind of the consumer.  This session looks at the key traits and actions of advisors that continue to maintain trust and faith of existing clients and also attract potential clients at a rate far greater than the average?

  • 4. Life and Business Lessons from the 2010 Vancouver Olympics

This is an uplifting, emotional and heartfelt session that takes lessons learned from the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, relates them to "life" and links them directly into some of the key business building ideas for the retirement income market.

  • 3. Sustainable Retirement Income

This is a more technical presentation that focuses on the structure of income using a variety of sources and financial tools.  It has substantial value and practical use for advisors, currently trying to assist their retired clients in an era of historically low interest rates and historically high levels of volatility in the stock markets.

  • 2. Lifestyle Planning in Retirement - Merging Your Money With Your Life

People need to plan retirement around more than just finances.   This is an examination of six major, non-financial planning considerations for those who are nearing retirement.  The use of musical references and a great deal of humour helps the audience begin to think through key decisions that will positively impact the quality of their retirement.

This has great application as breakout / spousal program content.

  • 1. Retirement Income Planning and Rock Music Trivia

  • It has been my pleasure work with Daryl and to utilize his talents for more than a decade. Daryl was one of the first in North America to see, and to help us to see, the coming significant differences that would be required in life and financial planning within the retirement stage of life.  His message has even greater significance with the coming retirement of the baby boom generation and beyond. His early focus in this area within his own financial practice is an example of this while developing the tools and processes to address the specific needs at this stage of life. Daryl has the unique ability to make otherwise laborious material interesting, enjoyable, easy to remember and implement. In my personal view Daryl is significantly more effective on this subject than any other speaker I have seen because he is a practicing advisor himself that utilizes these approaches for the benefit of his own clients every day. His credibility with an advisor audience sky rockets as a result. The difference with Daryl is that your audience will actually remember the techniques, implement them as well as enjoying every moment of the experience.

  • I was on the same program with Daryl at a conference in Las Vegas.  He did an absolutely outstanding jog of engaging a tough audience and keeping their attention, delivering great substance in an upbeat, fun fashion.  I would wholeheartedly endorse Daryl to anyone looking for a speaker to deliver on the “three E’s” every speaker strives for – Energize, Entertain and Educate.

  • We found Daryl Diamond to be one of the most entertaining and informative speakers on retirement income planning in Canada. We engaged him in two cross Canada tours where he spoke to our highly valued advisors, thoroughly entertaining them with his use of “Rock and Roll Trivia” and ‘Sopranos” themed presentations. The best thing about Daryl is that he uses his own material which is deep in content and packaged for all to understand and benefit from, drawn from his direct experience as an advisor.

  • We were delighted to have Daryl present to our attendees at our National Sales Day in Dublin in February 2010.   He was engaging and entertaining as well as informative. The ideas Daryl presented were transferable and useable ideas for advisors.  The concepts, insights and experiences he was able to convey apply to advisors and retirees on both sides of the Atlantic.  It was very useful for our attendees to see Daryl identifying the opportunity that now presents itself for advisors to address the unique clients’ needs in this market. The feedback from the attendees at our National Sales Day was excellent.

  • Thank you again for travelling to Atlantic Canada and for presenting to the STEP Atlantic Branch in Halifax.  I wanted to let you know that we have had excellent feedback.  I saw one attendee on Friday and he thought your presentation may have been the best, most entertaining presentation we have ever presented.  Another person commented that your points really made them think about their own situation as well as their clients' situations.

Buying Time: Trading Your Retirement Savings for Income and Lifestyle in Your Prime Retirement Years

Buying Time begins where most other retirement books end. Instead of covering how to accumulate money for your retirement, it gives you direction from that point forward-how to draw upon your assets most efficiently to create the income you will need throughout retirement. It provides an integrated approach to planning your income in retirement, so that you can do everything you want and still cover everything you need. Buying Time will help you to make better use of your resources, and make the best of your prime retirement years.
