Jessi Cruickshank is one-half of The After Show, MTV's primetime pop culture program, where she and co-host Dan Levy keep Canadians posted on the latest in the world of entertainment. Jessi's light-hearted personality and eclectic flair for fashion has made her a fan-favourite on MTV.

Since joining MTV in March 2006, Jessi has interviewed everyone from the pop culture spectrum including the cast of The Hills and the blockbuster movie Twilight, along with the Backstreet Boys, Mark Walhberg, Tom Cruise, David Suzuki and Bill Gates. Often pushing the boundaries, Jessi gets the goods on celebs by asking the questions her viewers want to know.

A graduate of the theatre and drama program at the University of Toronto, Jessi's resume includes two seasons as the host of YTV's Weird on Wheels, roles in The Pretender, Virtuality, For Hope and Alive! She was also a recipient of a scholarship to work with Toronto's celebrated Soulpepper Theatre Company.

As the official ambassador for Free the Children, the world's largest network of youth helping youth through education in third-world countries, Jessi travelled to India, for the documentaryMTV Presents: Jessi in India, documenting the dire circumstances children overcome in their struggling villages. Additionally, she travelled to Kenya with Free the Children and lived in a mud hut with a traditional Massai family to film the documentary MTV Presents: Jessi in Kenya.

Jessi's ability to connect to her audience allows her to delve into some of the most prevalent social and environmental issues that face our world today. She is a regular guest speaker at 'We Day', where she speaks about the importance of youth activism, poverty in the developing world, and how to make a positive contribution on a global scale.

  • 1. The Power to Create Change

As an MTV host and ambassador for international youth charity organization Free The Children, Jessi speaks about her experience growing up in Vancouver and discovering for the first time that even at 13 years old she had the power to change the world.

Jessi speaks about being an active, motivated young person who found herself working at MTV, in the entertainment world, where sometimes how you look is more important than how you think, where your net worth is more important than your self worth, and where quite often what you have is more important than what you have to give. She explores her own journey to see beyond that world and work to create change on a global scale and in her own community. Jessi discusses how young people today have the power to do the same!

  • “Jessi Cruickshank's speech left a lasting impression and was a stark reminder for me about how happiness is not a function of material goods and constant novelty, but about enjoying whatever you have, even if it is very little. I hope to apply this more in my own life and transmit some of this to my own children.”
Matthias Kipping, Professor of Policy, York University
  • “Year after year at We Day with Free The Children, Jessi has spoken to diverse crowds, from elementary students to adults, teachers and news media and families. Jessi always captures everyone's attention, inspiring them with light-hearted jokes and powerful stories.”

  • “Jessi always has a big smile and a story that sends a laugh through her audience, yet she still provokes us with thoughts on kindness, social issues, and every person's power to positively impact another's life.”
    Free the Children
  • “Through our work at Free The Children and Me to We, Jessi is one of the few speakers we consistently ask back—including our last three We Days reaching 30,000+ young people. Jessi has the unique ability to connect with youth on a pop culture level but at the same time she speaks with eloquences and depth. Her message of helping others is inspiring, funny, relatable and most importantly impactful. We are honored to work with Jessi and would recommend her as a speaker to anyone.”
