As the former National Editor of Maclean's magazine, and a current weekly columnist for The National Post, Andrew Coyne is one of Canada's most provocative and insightful commentators on political and economic issues, as well as health care and education. Andrew Coyne is the former National Editor of Maclean’s magazine and a current weekly columnist with The National Post.
Raised in Winnipeg, Andrew received a B.A. in Economics and History from University of Toronto and a Master's in Economics from the London School of Economics.
In addition to his writing for Maclean's and The National Post, Andrew has also been an editorial writer and columnist for The Financial Post, The Globe and Mail, and the Southam newspaper chain. He also writes regularly for a number of Canadian and foreign publications, and is a frequent commentator on television and radio, including acting as a panelist on CBC TV's The National for their popular "At Issue" segment.
Andrew is the winner of two National Newspaper Awards and a four-time finalist in the National Magazine Awards. A past recipient of the Hyman Solomon Award for Excellence in Public Policy Journalism, he is also a Fellow of the School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Toronto.
