Jesse Brown is a TVO podcaster, a Maclean's magazine blogger, a Toronto Life magazine columnist, and he has hosted two national CBC radio shows. A co-founder of Bitstrips.com, a cartooning app that Wired magazine described as "awesome,” Jesse shares his technology insight with audiences of all kinds, ranging from social media newcomers to organizations and educators looking to further explore where digital culture is headed next.
Jesse Brown was first heard by Canadians on his hit CBC Radio show The Contrarians, a program about "unpopular ideas that just might be right." Jesse's current show, Search Engine, which debuted on CBC Radio and now makes its home on TVO.org, explores the effects of the internet and social media on politics and culture.The show was recognized three times by Apple as a "Best Podcast of the Year."
As a tech journalist, Jesse has interviewed the inventor of the World Wide Web, travelled to China to report on dissident bloggers, and explained Twitter to Peter Mansbridge on CBC TV's The National.
As a co-founder of Bitstrips.com, Jesse helped launch an educational cartooning application that teaches computer literacy and visual literacy to millions of students, and has become a key learning tool for educators around the world.
As a print journalist, Jesse writes a regular column for Toronto Life magazine, and has also contributed to publications including Saturday Night magazine - where he received a National Magazine Award -The Globe and Mail, the National Post, and Vice magazine, among others.
