After almost 20 years in the NHL, legendary hockey goaltender Martin Brodeur continues to impress audiences and fans alike with his raw skill set, consistency and sense of ambition.
Born in Montreal, Brodeur has played his entire 19-year professional career with the New Jersey Devils. He has led his team to three Stanley Cup championships, and has participated in almost all of the season's playoffs. Brodeur was part of the Canadian Olympic Hockey Team that took the gold medal in the 2002 Salt Lake City Games, and Vancouver 2010 was his fourth Olympic appearance, making him one of the most internationally recognizable figures in the sport. Brodeur is the NHL's all-time leader in wins, shutouts, and games played, and a four-time Vezina Trophy winner, a four-time Jennings Trophy winner, a ten-time NHL All-Star and a Calder Memorial Trophy recipient.
Beginning his career in Quebec, Brodeur played minor league hockey with the Saint- Leonard Minor Hockey Association and the Montreal-Bourassa Midget AAA Team. Joining the Saint-Hyacinthe Laser in the Quebec Major League, Brodeur's talent, strength and characteristic sense of calm captured the attention of scouts and professional teams. During the NHL's 1990 draft, the New Jersey Devils choose him at the 20th rank of the first round. From the get-go, Brodeur impressed fans and coaches, and he was awarded the Calder Trophy for Rookie of the Year.
Brodeur's name has been engraved on the Stanley Cup on three occasions (1995, 2000 and 2003), after leading his team to victory. He continues to dazzle with his hybrid style, quick reflexes, puck-handling and team-oriented attitude.
