Emphasizing communication and a need to put economic analysis into useable terms, Andersen has helped to change the way that businesses make decisions.

Andersen founded Andersen Economic Research in 1984, and has worked as a private consultant since. Prior to, he was the Assistant Chief of the Bank of Canada’s research Department in Ottawa, and he also advised the Governor and Bank management on economic conditions and the economic outlook. Andersen joined the management-consulting firm Woods Gordon, which later became Ernst & Young.

Since founding Andersen Economic Research, Andersen has acted as an advisor to investment dealer firms Sprott Securities and Cormark Securities. His clients include a broad range of corporations and financial institutions throughout North America, and he currently advises senior management at companies such as Travelers Canada, Great-West Life, Cushman & Wakefield, Canadian Gypsum, Carrier, Moen, Adecco, Hanson Brick, Monarch Development Corporation and Mason Homes. Andersen is also the economist for the Canadian Home Builders’ Association.

Andersen provides strategic economic advice to management through client meetings and economic reports. He has also taught financial economics and money & banking at the University of Texas at Austin since 2001.

Andersen obtained his doctorate in economics from Harvard University. He is a sought-after speaker at industry conferences throughout Canada and the United States.
