The author of two books, Iman has continued to question the fashion and beauty world’s affect on personal identity. Her first book, I AM IMAN, is an autobiographical sketchbook of her career. Iman’s second book, The Beauty of Color: The Ultimate Beauty Guide for Skin of Color, is the first beauty and makeup book that truly addresses skin tones of multiple ethnicities.
Ever evolving, Iman’s latest accomplishment is Host/Executive Producer for the second season of Project Runway Canada. Further broadening her horizon, gleaned from experience and a keen eye, she has designed IMAN GLOBAL CHIC, a line of handbags, jewellery, and fashion accessories.
In addition to running a global beauty company, Iman is actively involved in several charities, including The Children’s Defense Fund, For All Kids Foundation, Action Against Hunger, and she is a Global Ambassador for Keep a Child Alive. She has conceived and is spearheading a national campaign called I AM AFRICAN to help awareness and raise funds for the AIDS pandemic that is ravaging her homeland. A mother of two, Iman is married to David Bowie.

September 2001I Am Iman
Iman's emergence in 1975 sparked an upheavel in cultural identity that continues today, and her first book is a gloriously entertaining hybrid essay on the cultural-cum-political power of good looks. The book's outrageous pop design--by graphic designers Barnbrook Studios--makes it plain that this is not just one woman's success story. I Am Iman captures the funny, infuriating, and often absurd validation of black and ethnic looks in a beauty industry where billions of dollars--and the self-image of women everywhere--are on the line.
