3 New Speakers: Jennifer Jones, Dr. Ivan Joseph and Lucy Adams

Jennifer Jones is Canada’s most decorated and recognizable female curler.  As skip of the Canadian Olympic team, not only did Jones lead the team to gold—they won all 11 games in the series and by doing so, made history in the process.  Her backstory is even more incredible, as she achieved this just 18 months after having extensive knee surgery and only 15 months after becoming a mother for the first time!

As an award winning coach (NAIA Coach of the Year), athletic director and sports psychologist, Dr. Ivan Joseph is an expert on performance, leadership, and cultural transformation. For conference audiences, he speaks about the skill of self-confidence, the “grit” to persevere in spite of setbacks, and leading teams to success. Dynamic and inspiring, the stories and lessons he shares apply to business and to life.

Lucy Adams was the BBC’s Human Resources Director during one of its most turbulent periods. Responsible for all aspects of employee relations, reward, training and development, she reduced the BBC management by over 30%, saving the organization £25m a year. She also helped lead the broadcaster as it dealt with a series of crises.

2 Upcoming Books: The Confidence Code by Katty Kay, and The Dolphin Way by Dr. Shimi Kang

The Confidence Code:The Science and Art of Self-Assurance—What Women Should Know (April 2014) | By Katty Kay and Claire Shipman

Confidence. We want it. We need it. But it can be maddeningly enigmatic and out of reach. Katty Kay, co-author of Womenomics, deconstructs this essential, elusive, and misunderstood quality, and offers a blueprint for bringing more of it into our lives. Kay travels to the frontiers of neuroscience on a hunt for the confidence gene and reveals surprising new research on its roots in our brains, and examines how a lack of confidence impacts our leadership, success, and fulfillment.

The Dolphin Way: A Parent’s Guide to Raising Healthy, Happy and Motivated Kids, Without Turning Into a Tiger (May 2014) | By. Dr. Shimi Kang

It’s time to let out a sigh of relief, for the days of “Tiger” parenting are over, says Dr. Shimi Kang, a Harvard-trained psychiatrist and author of the new book, The Dolphin Way. Conclusively dismantling the myth that over-scheduling kids is the only way to produce high-performing adults, Dr. Kang offers an intuitive model of parenting based on bonding, role modeling, and firmly guiding children to foster their internal drive for health, happiness, and success in the 21st century.
